Who invented the computer? While there are many different versions of this story, the most commonly accepted version is that inventors John Atanasoff and Clifford Berry developed a computer in 1937. This was long before the internet or even personal computers!
Alan Turing
He was born in 1912 and died in 1954 due to suicide. Turing was a mathematician and code breaker who worked on the Enigma machine during World War II.

David Chandler

David Chandler was born in 1934 in Cambridge, England. He started working on computers while still a student at Cambridge University. In 1957, he developed the first programmable calculator. The next year, he created the world’s first programmable computer, which he called the Manchester Small-Scale Experimental Machine (MSEM). This machine was used to research artificial intelligence and machine learning. Chandler also worked on developing early versions of word processors and email systems. In 1973, he retired from his position as professor at the University of Manchester.
Konrad Zuse
Konrad Zuse, a German mathematician and physicist, is generally credited with inventing the computer. In 1941, while working on an electrical calculating machine in his home, Zuse developed a method of storing programs in microfilm. This led to the development of the first electronic computer, the Z3, in 1945.
Herman Hollerith
Herman Hollerith is widely credited with inventing the first computer. A self-taught mathematician and inventor, Hollerith began working on what would become the first mechanical calculating machine in 1876. His machine used punched cards to input data and produced results on a mechanical printer. The machine was a huge success, and Hollerith applied for a U.S. patent in 1880.
